Un incontro inaspettato

A girl who is taking photographs sees from afar a woman with whom she had fallen in love in the past. Anxious to meet her, she goes to the gate of her apartment building and calls her on the intercom in the hope that she will remember her. Recognizing her by her voice, she welcomes her into her home and hosts her for the night. The girl, however, misunderstands her feelings and the following morning decides to leave, internalizing her own sadness. In order to make this short film I took inspiration from the chance encounter in the third episode of Ryusuke Hamaguchi's IL GIOCO DEL DESTINO E DELLA FANTASIA (2021) and the sweetness of the shots in Celine Song's PAST LIVES (2023). I focused on the misunderstanding of feelings and the psychological fragility of human beings. A flow of emotions, told through a skilful use of editing and an excellent management of narrative timing, runs through the soul of the protagonist. Anxiety, fear, serenity, anger, indifference and sadness accompany the main character in the narrative and are condensed in the last scene; a single powerful shot that exemplifies her state of mind.
